For many restaurants, the ability to properly manage the eating areas located throughout the establishment can be critical. Table management is much more than just tracking orders by table, it includes the ability to control the entire customer service cycle through a serious of customized screens used by the staff.
BPOS maintains the ability to setup multiple floor plans for use by the staff in the front of the house. Each floor plan can show the tables, counters, bars and chairs within the area that the floor plan covers. For example separate floor plans may be setup for the dining area and the patio and then connected for use in the front of the house. In addition the location of bathrooms, handicap accessible facilities, fire extinguishers, fire alarms and exits may be identified.
At a designated hostess station the floor plan setup may be used by the hostess to track the status of all eating areas and increase the efficiency of the seating process. The hostess will be able to quickly identify the status of tables through the use of a color coding system which identifies tables as reserved, ready to seat, seated, order placed, ticket closed and dirty.
Table service is the backbone of overall table management and includes all the functionality so that servers may properly serve tables. BPOS has a wide variety of table service functions to ensure the servers are efficiently operating including opening tickets by table, multiple tickets on one table, transferring tickets between tables, splitting tickets on a table, merging tickets on a table and tracking tickets by table.
In October of 2011 BPOS will be adding a customer waiting list for use by the hostess or other designated person. Establishments will be able to use BPOS to log customers in as they arrive, track wait time and notify the customer there table is ready through a paging system or text message.
